Amazing what you can get in the mail these days.....

Packing peanuts are Madelines favorite toy. Any box that arrives in the house, she has to check out, then sleep in.

The Backpack

Pictured here is the ultimate test of my bags! A backpack for a 7th grader (my son) who carried everything but the kitchen sink..... He had been through 3 backpacks in 2 years and after trying to find a backpack for school at the end of the school year, I decided to make him one. He requested pockets to stuff all those little things he has to carry in school. (which are not in any way actually related to school work!) The bottom has leather on it for extra strength.  In 8th grade Dan carried ALL of his books instead of using a locker. The pack cloth held up to the wear and tear and all the zippers held (usually the first thing to go in commercial backpacks) but the weight was really stressing the fabric. Hence, the foray onto the Cordura type fabric.(see picture at left) The kid is now in 12th grade, back pack is still going strong,  holding the books, MP3 player, and numerous crumpled, undecipherable  pieces of paper.
